Activity-Based Therapy session at iAM ABLE Miami

We built this for people who are ready to work — and tired of being told to wait.

This is for you if:

  • You have a spinal cord injury, TBI, stroke, or other neurological condition
  • You want measurable functional goals: transfers, hand function, strength, standing, walking
  • You're willing to commit to 2–3 sessions per week for real progress
  • You've finished insurance-based PT and feel stuck or know you need more
  • You're newly injured and need a clear plan — not just exercises
  • You're a family member searching for the right next step

This may not be the fit if:

  • You're looking for a quick fix or short-term program with no commitment
  • You need a provider who accepts insurance as full payment (we don't bill insurance directly)
  • You want medical guarantees or cure promises — we don't make those
  • You're not ready to show up consistently — progress requires intensity and frequency

What to expect when you walk through our doors

Your first session is an evaluation — not a sales pitch. We learn about you before we build anything.

1

We learn your story

We sit down with you to understand your injury, your history, your daily challenges, and what you want your life to look like. No one-size-fits-all intake forms — a real conversation.

2

We assess where you are

Through guided stretching and exercises, we get a clear picture of your current capabilities — range of motion, strength, sensation, and functional movement. This is our baseline.

3

We show you the facility and equipment

You'll see the specialized ABT equipment you'll be working with — standing frames, FES systems, our Lokomat robotic gait trainer, exoskeleton, and more. We explain how each one fits your goals.

4

We set goals together

You tell us what matters most to you. We suggest additional goals based on what we've seen in 13 years of working with people in similar situations. Then we build your plan — individualized, specific, measurable.

What our clients and their families say

This facility is such an asset to the disabled community. The owner has a spinal cord injury so he truly knows the challenges that many of us face. They have up-to-date equipment that can target many physical weaknesses, and the staff truly is wonderful and caring. I have made tremendous gains.

— Ryan

I had been through many physical therapists — Healthsouth, Baptist Hospital, and many others. There is a big difference in how I have felt after working out with iAM ABLE. They get a lot more out of me and I can feel it. The difference is like apples and oranges.

— Julio

Not only have I noticed more strength in my body since going to iAM ABLE, but I also noticed more strength growing in my mind and my outlook for the future. Alfredo is very empowering, especially considering that he understands spinal cord injury.

— Alex

My 13-year-old son has a spinal cord injury and has been coming here since 2015. You cannot compare the therapy you receive here to that of traditional physical therapy. They have specialized equipment that cannot be found in traditional therapy centers.

— Diana, parent

Built by someone who's lived it

Alfredo, founder of iAM ABLE and 18-year SCI survivor

iAM ABLE was founded in 2012 by Alfredo, who has been living with a spinal cord injury for 18 years. He didn't build this organization from a textbook — he built it because he experienced the same frustrations you or your family member are feeling right now: the short PT sessions, the lack of a real plan, the feeling of being discharged and left to figure it out.

That experience is what makes iAM ABLE different. Every program, every piece of equipment, every approach was chosen because Alfredo understands — from the inside — what recovery actually demands. He and his team of 3 have been refining this for 13 years.

This isn't about sympathy. It's about authority. When your therapist has been through what you're going through, the trust is different. The accountability is different. The understanding is different.

"If it wasn't for iAM ABLE, I wouldn't be where I am today." — Julio

Local hospitals refer their most challenging patients to iAM ABLE — including individuals with high-level spinal cord injuries and those on respiratory machines. We're the facility that takes the cases others can't.
